Sweet Potato Falafel Boats

  • 450 Grams
    Chick Peas (Garbanzos)
  • Sweet Potatoes (Small)
  • 2 Pieces
  • Onion
  • 0.5 Cups
  • Curry Powder (Season to taste)
  • Black Pepper (Optional)
  • Salt to taste (optional)
  • Sesame Seeds


  1. Cook Chickpeas until soft, and then mash them really well. (Either with a Potato Masher, or in a food processor.)

  2. Peel and chop sweep potatoes and put them into a preheated oven at 200 Degrees Celcius for 20 minutes.

  3. Chop Onions, Garlic and Parsley finely and add to Chickpeas and then mix them in well with a large wooden spoon.
    (Or place them all in a food processor to mix well.)

  4. Add some Spices and Salt (Optional) - Season to taste...

    I used some Curry Powder in mine and also a little salt.
    If you like spicy food, you can also add Black Pepper and freshly chopped chillies.

  5. Add the Sweet Potato and mash it all together and then mix thoroughly.
    Roll the mix into little balls and dip into sesame seeds.
    Then place each ball into a pyrex dish.

    Dip into sesame seeds.
  6. Place dish in the over at 200 Degrees Celcius for 20 minutes.

  7. Garnish with Lettuce, Hummus and Rocket. Or you can add some chilli sauce for that extra kick.
