Yes, you can actually grow your own culture, I DID, just buy raw kombucha drink at your healt store, I got mine at henry's marketplace.

brew a cup of black tea, add 3 tbsp of sugar, mix in with the raw kombucha drink, cover it with a cloth secured with a rubber band, and let it sit for 3 to 6 weeks.

You will start to see the culture forming.

After that, just google for a recipe to make tea for kombucha , and add your newly formed culture to the tea, wait 7 to 10 days, and you have your own kombucha tea.

You cannot start to make your own culture. You have to have one to make one. I have been using Kombucha for over a year now. My family is prone to cancer and I use it as prevention. I have had cancer twice before and don't want it again. I had a cyst on my breast and it disappeared on its own. I had had two previously removed about 6 years before. I recommend finding someone who has a mushroom and can run you thru the process of brewing your own tea. I recently had a physical and my blood sugar was up and my cholesterol was high. I didn't change my diet but the next blood test showed my cholesterol was down and my blood sugar was normal. Just a note* I had been out the tea at the time of my first blood test. I was bit on the lazy side and hadn't made any for a while. I won't do that again. Cheers!!!!

Hello,

I am a high school student and I would like to do a science project on Kombucha. I was wondering where there is information about how to grow your own Kombucha culture. I don't just want to buy "the mushroom"; is it possible for me to create the actual culture of yeast and bacteria?
